Resumen The language learning process gets influenced by many factors, some of them are internal to the language and the individual and some of them are external to the language and the learner. The aim of the present study was to investigate in an exploratory way some of those external factors that could influence the outcome of the English language learning process. These factors were: The roles that parents and family were taking when supporting the language learning process of their children. The relationship between parents¿ support and the students¿ outcome in the English language subject at the school. The kind of motivation that students build from the support they get from their parents and the influence that academic background has on parents when they support the EFL learning process of their children.
